Nature Gal

Craft cocktails hold a special place in my heart. It seems so minuscule; it’s just a drink, right? You’d think, but the artistry, flavors, and presentation that elevate them far beyond mere beverages is all so intriguing to me. Each cocktail becomes an entire experience, each one telling its own unique story…

During my visit to Seattle, I stumbled upon Roquette, a French-inspired cocktail bar that has truly masters the art of mixology. In fact, their reputation soared when Esquire magazine crowned them the best cocktail bar in 2021, and I wholeheartedly agree.

During my evening at Roquette, I had the pleasure of savoring one of their signature drinks, known as "Nature Boy." This drink dazzled my palate with the enchanting notes of Mezcal, Yuzu, Falernum, and more A perfect balance of citrus, tart, and smoke. Incredible depth all wrapped into one little coupe glass. I couldn't resist ordering three of them before gracefully retiring to my hotel.

When I came back to Houston, I knew I HAD to try and re-make it, but of course, couldn't’ find Yuzu, and I wanted to make it sooner than I wanted to wait for it so I could feature it in my ZEIGN. So, I made one featuring my own spin, and called it “Nature Girl”.. Original, right? LOL These ingredients are easy to find, yet still bring that layer of complexity and balance of flavors that the true Nature Boy had to offer. To make your own, see below!
